Richardson Healthcare Carbon Reduction Plan 2023

For a Greener Future

Commitment to achieving Net Zero

Richardson Healthcare is committed to achieving Net Zero by 2050. We have strategically assessed our business to both determine the scale of our environmental impact and develop more sustainable roadmaps in three key areas: fuel combustion, purchased energy, and indirect emissions.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Baseline Year: 2022 (First Reporting Year)
Additional Details Relating to the Baseline Emissions Calculations.

Our first emissions reporting year is 2022 and it is compliant with the GHG Protocol. The Protocol has enabled us to investigate and understand our company’s most carbon emitting activities.

We used the GHG inventory to analyse our emissions and have empowered each of our departments to develop and implement their own carbon reduction strategies.

Baseline year emissions:

EMISSIONS TOTAL (tCO2e)
Scope 1 Refrigeration Unit: 0.0 tCO2e
Scope 2 Purchased Electricity: 6.7 tCO2e
Scope 3

Business Travel: 9.1 tCO2e

Employee Commuting: 7.93 tCO2e
Upstream Transportation and Distribution: 596.74 tCO2e
Downstream Transportation and Distribution: 326.67 tCO2e

Waste Generated: 5.3 tCO2e

Transmission and Distribution: 0.61 tCO2e

Total Emissions 953.05 tCO2e

Emissions Reduction Targets

Since our first emissions reporting year is 2022, we have no carbon reduction strategies to report progress on. However, a graph presenting our performance will be provided in our annual update.

We project that total Scope 1,2 and 3 carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 835.66 tCO2e by 2028. This is a reduction of 12.3%.

As a short term target, we project a linear annual rate reduction (LAR) of 3.7% across Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions by 2050.
