What is C-Sorb Carbon?
C-Sorb is a superabsorbent dressing pad with an activated charcoal layer. The dressing not only absorbs and retains large volumes of fluid, but also neutralises any wound malodour.
Why have I been prescribed C-Sorb Carbon?
You have been prescribed the dressing because you have a weeping wound that is accompanied by a foul or pungent smell.
How does C-Sorb Carbon work?
C-Sorb Carbon combines two wound care solutions: a superabsorbent dressing pad and an activated charcoal layer. The pad’s superabsorbent core can absorb and retain up to 300 times its weight in fluid. Once the fluid is absorbed, it transforms into a gel that evenly distributes fluid across the pad. This prevents the pad from bulking uncomfortably in one area.
Meanwhile, the charcoal layer absorbs odour-causing bacteria, neutralising wound malodour and sensory discomfort.
How often should C-Sorb Carbon be changed?
The frequency of your dressings will be determined by the volume of fluid produced by your wound or condition. Your clinician will advise you on how often your dressing should be changed.
Can C-Sorb Carbon be cut?
C-Sorb Carbon is not designed to be cut. The dressing comes in a range of sizes and your clinician will select the most appropriate one for you.
How should C-Sorb Carbon be secured to the affected area?
C-Sorb Carbon is a non-adherent dressing, which means it must be secured using bandages, compression hosiery or surgical tape.
