The Wound Care Challenge Trio: Pain, Malodour and Exudate
Recent surveys of clinicians and patients found that pain, malodour and exudate are among the most common and challenging symptoms associated with wounds. Each of these symptoms presents unique difficulties that can significantly affect a patient’s quality of life as well, as a clinician’s ability treat the wound effectively. Pain can cause emotional distress, disrupt sleep and limit mobility, while malodour often leads to embarrassment, anxiety and social isolation. Excessive exudate may not only lead to discomfort, but also skin damage with may affect the wound healing process.
The Untold Story of Wound Malodour
C-Sorb Carbon Border: One Dressing, Three Solutions
C-Sorb Carbon Border is an innovative superabsorbent dressing designed to manage these three wound care symptoms. The dressing consists of seven key features, including our high-performance superabsorbent pad, an activated charcoal layer and a gentle silicone contact layer.
C-Sorb Carbon Border’s core is built-on our trusted superabsorbent pad, powered by unique H.D.M technology. The fast-action drawing layers rapidly absorb wound exudate into the superabsorbent core, where it is evenly dispersed throughout the pad, ensuring it swells uniformly to avoid uncomfortable bulking. The superabsorbent core becomes a gel-like substance that locks away exudate and bacteria, protecting the periwound skin from maceration and improving the wound healing process.
C-Sorb Carbon Border’s effective odour control and silicone adhesive enhances patient comfort by not only tackling the emotional impact of malodorous wounds, but also minimising any discomfort and pain associated with dressing changes.
