Let’s Talk About Wound Malodour: Wound Care Today 2025

Wound malodour is one of the most unpleasant aspects of living with a wound. Richardson Healthcare, in partnership with the Journal of Community Nursing (JCN), conducted two surveys of healthcare professionals (HCPs) and patients, which revealed that wound malodour is the second most distressing wound-related complication, ranking behind pain and surpassing other complications like infection and excessive exudate. The surveys found that wound malodour was a source of embarrassment, anxiety and self-isolation. Despite this, the impact of malodour on patients, their families and carers is often underestimated and underreported.

As a company, we are committed to changing conversations around wound malodour. Our goal is to shift and improve how we think, speak and manage wound malodour, not only to improve patients’ experiences of care, but also to support HCPs to better navigate the challenges of assessing and managing wound malodour.

It is about time we start talking about wound malodour. Join the conversation and help us make a difference for patients by visiting us at stand 28 at Wound Care Today 2025 at the Telford International Centre (12th-13th March), to watch our session ‘Let’s Talk About Wound Malodour…‘ You will have the chance to listen to patients and clinicians speaking about the true impact on wound malodour on their physical and emotional wellbeing. Our team will be available to listen to your clinical insights and experiences to help us improve the future care for patients living with malodorous wounds.
