Neutralises Odour

C-Sorb Carbon is a 2-in-1 product that combines a superabsorbent pad with an integrated carbon layer. The carbon absorbs odour molecules and locks them away. This minimises patient distress, embarrassment and social isolation.

Excellent Absorbency

C-Sorb contains superabsorbent polymers (SAP) that can absorb 300 times their weight in fluid, meaning that it is able to absorb and retain large volumes of exudate. This extends wear time, reduces the number of dressing changes, and saves nursing time.

Lock-away Technology

When fluid is absorbed, the superabsorbent core transforms into a gel that locks in exudate. This not only keeps bacteria away from the wound bed, but also prevents periwound maceration.

Even Fluid Dispersion

The gel evenly distributes the exudate across the dressing, preventing uncomfortable bulking in one area.

Soft Contact Layer

The soft contact layer minimises adherence to the wound and reduces the risk of friction and shearing.

Comfortable and Conformable

The dressing is flexible and can adapt easily to the contours of the body, ensuring patient comfort during use.

Strikethrough-free

The fluid repellent backing prevents strikethrough. This not only ensures patient comfort, but also prevents the soiling of compression garments.

Suitable Under Compression

C-Sorb performs well under compression by retaining large volumes of fluid without any leakage. This prevents compression garments from becoming soiled.

Affordable

Longer wear time reduces the number of dressing changes. The carbon layer eliminates the need for an additional dressing, which saves nursing time and resources.

Resources

Types of Malodorous Wounds/Indications Treatment Aims and Considerations Benefits of Using C-Sorb Carbon
Fungating Wounds • Odour control
• Treat infection (if any)
• Manage exudate
• Reduce pain and/or bleeding
• Improve quality of life.
• Neutralises odour
• Can reduce the frequency of dressing changes due to its excellent absorbency and retention. This may minimise the risk of pain and bleeding associated with dressing changes.
• Less interruptions to the patient and the family’s daily life.
Pressure Ulcers • Odour control
• Treat infection (if any)
• Debridement of devitalised tissue
• Prevent further damage by offloading pressure.
• Neutralises odour
• Can be used with a primary dressing (i.e., honey or hydrogel) to promote debridement
• Effective management of moderate to high exudate levels
Can reduce the number of dressing changes due to its excellent absorbency and retention.
Infected Surgical Wounds • Odour control
• Treat infection
• Exudate management
• Neutralises odour while the source is treated
• Excellent absorbency and retention contains exudate
• Fluid-repellent backing prevents strikethrough of exudate.
Leg Ulcers • Odour control
• If indicated, use the appropriate compression to promote healing
• Refer to Vascular if there are any concerns about circulation to the lower legs
• Treat infection (if any)
• Address pain to encourage acceptance of treatment plan.
• Neutralises odour
• The dressing is suitable for use under compression bandages, garments, hosiery and wraps
• Wicks fluid to edges of the dressing
• Less interruptions to the patient and the family’s daily life.
Lymphorrhea • Odour control
• Use the appropriate compression
•Reduce leakage of large volumes of fluid.
• Neutralises odour
• Manages fluid while the compression works to stop the leakage.
Foot Ulcers • Odour control
• Refer to podiatry or a specialist diabetic foot department, as per local policy.
• Neutralises odour
• Comfortable and conformable around the foot
• Can reduce the number of dressing changes due to its excellent absorbency and retention.
