Superabsorbent dressings
Superabsorbent dressings are advanced wound care dressings designed to manage moderate to heavily exuding wounds. They contain highly absorbent polymers (super absorbent polymers or SAPs) that can rapidly absorb and retain large volumes of wound fluid, helping to keep the wound environment balanced (maintaining an optimal wound environment) while reducing the risk of leakage and skin maceration.
Unlike traditional absorbent dressings, superabsorbent dressings lock fluid away within their core, helping to prevent exudate from returning to the wound surface. This supports a cleaner wound environment, protects surrounding skin, and can reduce the frequency of dressing changes. Superabsorbent dressings are commonly used for leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, surgical wounds, cavity wounds, and other highly exuding acute or chronic wounds.
